Palm pre was based on Linux. Rooting means entering into a mode where we canaccess the linux on which the WebOS. Thus we can modify many things, such as a modem update, modify cache (shared RAM), update the NV items, blocking automaticupdates and so on.

procedure
A. Install Palm SDK
2. Extract novaterm in \ programfiles \ palmSDK \ bin directory
3. The handset is set to Devmode (# * DEVMODE #) or type:upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart. And connect it to kompie
4. Run Novaterm.bat already in the bin directory diextract
5. Novaterm see a menu appears on the left top .. click: connect
6. If the menu has been written novaterm "root @ WebOS-device" means ...
